Chandeliers have been made from many materials over the years. Some of the earliest chandeliers that were first used in the houses of kings and nobles were simple planks that were bound together in the shape of a cross and covered with candles. The design of the chandelier progressed through the centuries and chandeliers were made of various materials: iron, platinum, glass, crystal, even brass.
Brass chandeliers have a special luster that has made them one of the favorite types of chandeliers for hundreds and hundreds of years. A brass chandelier has some of the same shine and appearance that one associated with gold while being a lot less heavy (and far less expensive), and an antique brass chandelier can provide a great sense of elegance to a high class venue or make the foyer or the larger social rooms in your home look much better. Brass candle chandeliers generally cost several hundred dollars (although it may be possible to find a better deal if you go to the right crafts fairs or find the right sales), and some of the higher quality ones (such as a high grade Baldwin brass chandelier) can cost a thousand dollars or more. One of the more basic brass chandeliers might be a brass chandelier 1-tier 5-light model (a five candle brass chandelier).
Antique brass chandeliers can provide an even more distinctive appearance to an area in your home (such as an antique brass chandelier with gold bead design). However, lighting and using these brass chandeliers can take a lot of extra effort compared to modern brass chandeliers, as antique brass chandeliers do not use electric lights but must instead be used with candles, and ordinary candles take a long time to light, must be lit and put out afterwards by someone who can go up to where the chandelier is on a ladder, and must be cleaned regularly to undo the effects of dripping wax and smoke by someone who knows how to clean brass chandeliers. Cleaning brass chandeliers requires brass polish and some special care to clean a chandelier that is hanging in place. Candles also have to be changed frequently, as an evening of use will wear down the entire set of candles in all of your brass chandeliers. Considering all of these extra sources of necessary effort, cheap brass chandeliers that use electric power may be the better choice if you are just looking for a certain style and efficient light production.
