With the cost to produce all kinds of lighting implements going down all of the time, more types of lighting are constantly coming on the market, with specific products being developed for every little niche around the home. Over the past few decades one such niche that has begun to receive plenty of lighting product development effort has been cabinet lighting. While many people still have unlit cabinets that they see inside by the light of whatever other lighting fixtures are available within their kitchens or dining rooms, more and more people are coming into possession of small affordable cabinet lighting solutions: these cabinet lighting implements are often quiet small and hidden away along the top inside corner or some edge of the cabinet. They can be turned on by a switch or activated by the opening of the cabinet door. Note that when we talk about cabinet lighting in this case, we are talking about something different from museum cabinet lighting, which is used to light up cabinets that have windows and open space and to illuminate various kinds of museum objects. In this case, we are instead talking about things such as kitchen cabinet lighting, and cabinet lights that are used in dining rooms and dens.
One of the basic solutions used for cabinet lighting is under cabinet lighting; under cabinet lights are the kind of obscured light that produces a small glow that is positioned so that light does not escape directly from the light source to your eye but instead reflects over the interior of the cabinet. An under cabinet light generally takes very little power as it is small, and they tend to be halogen lights because they cannot make much heat as they are positioned in a tight spot very close to cabinet materials which are most often some form of wood (i.e. flammable). Still, some kinds of curio cabinet light / under cabinet light fixtures are in the form of tiny light bulbs.
Another kind of option that some find for arranging cabinet lighting is cabinet light rails; and again, these are typically a form of halogen kitchen cabinet lighting or xenon under cabinet lighting. If you want to learn how to install under cabinet lights and how to wire under cabinet lights, you may want to focus on lx cabinet lighting, that is - lighting that is based around a single lighting element, before you go on to something more complicated such as a light rail. Still, the design is generally quite straightforward and all you have to do is get the lighting implement for your cabinet lighting installed safely so that it does not directly make contact with the cabinet material and arrange for the on-off switch nearby to go between two settings. Good luck setting up your cabinet lighting.
