Solar Lighting

Solar lighting is an increasingly popular option of lighting for many with the recent increase in the prices of fuel and electricity, as well as increased interest in the environment and protecting the Earth from the effects of fossil fuels. Solar lights operate on principles that are now well understood and familiar to many; during the day, a solar light will collect power from a solar panel that converts sunlight into electrical energy. This energy is stored in a battery nearby until the sun goes down, at which time (or before, if you want to use the solar power light indoors without just relying on the light from the sun) the battery is tapped to provide the energy for running the solar lighting.

When solar lights were first invented, the solar panel technology wasn't very strong and could not collect much electrical power; however today advances in solar panels have made it a much more worthwhile prospect to use solar lighting for all kinds of purposes: solar indoor lighting, solar outdoor lighting, solar garden lights (solar garden light can be used both as a grow light or just for aesthetic lighting), solar flood light systems, solar landscape lighting / solar yard light, solar deck light, solar powered street light systems, sole powered security light systems (a light which is motion triggered and powered by solar energy) and more. In any case where you could use a regular light, there is a solar alternative available which you can try and which can save you money on your electrical bill. You can also come up with an overall solution where you plug your solar panels and their charge battery into your electrical grid, so that at a certain time of day you just turn on the battery switch and use the energy that has been collected in the battery for anything that drains off of the mains power, reducing your overall energy consumption by the amount of solar lighting energy that has been collected over the course of the day.

While the strongest source of outdoor solar light continues to be the sun itself, solar lighting technology is beginning to go a long way towards making the outdoor world as potentially bright during the night as it is during the day, and all without making too much use of the fossil fuels that are causing damage to the environment. Now is truly the era of solar lighting.
